He has extensive experience working with new capital market initiatives and has guided many clients with sophisticated needs through complex and dynamic regulatory environments. Peter has particular expertise with Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF), Rule D 506(c), Regulation A+, and the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, as well as with obtaining regulatory approvals from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

    One of Peter’s select areas of practice has been investment-based immigration. He regularly represents investors and entrepreneurs from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, as well as regional centers, developers, business owners, and other stakeholders.

    Jay Kim is the managing partner at Kim Vaughan Lerner LLP, a commercial litigation, employment litigation and insurance defense firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida established in 2005.  He has worked extensively on complex litigation matters, including shareholder disputes, securities litigation, franchise disputes, and litigation relating to construction, non-competition, commercial torts, and insurance.

    Jay is peer-review rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell (its highest rating) and has been named a Legal Elite by Florida Trend magazine, a Top Lawyer by South Florida Legal Guide, and a Florida Super Lawyer, Top 100.

    He is a past recipient of the Florida Supreme Court Pro Bono Award for the 17th Judicial Circuit, and was named Lawyer of the Year by Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida.

    Jay graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics and received his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law.

    He is a founding member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida and its first president.  APABA recently awarded Jay with its first-ever Trailblazer Award.

    At the Florida Bar, the statewide association and agency of the Florida Supreme Court in which all Florida lawyers must have membership, Jay was part of the inaugural class of the Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy and has served on many committees.  Jay served as a governor for the 17th Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar Board of Governors.  He is the first Asian-American to hold this position in the history of The Florida Bar.
